About OIRFET
OIRFET (Open innovative resources for filmmaking education and training) increases the accessibility of film education for everyone.
The partnership was formed to improve teaching programs of film editing and to create innovative, open, public domain movie resources for students and teachers. The material created, consists of dedicated on-line accessible film footage and also the know-how instructions and tips for both schools and self-taught.
Public domain audiovisual materials were created in the course of a three-year intensive cooperation of 20 lecturers and 80 students.
While working on the production and preparation of the materials, four international workshops took place to test them. It is a partnership between four film academies (Lodz Film School, FAMU, VŠMU, ADU) with the support of the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership program of the EU.
More information about the know-how of the project can be found here.
About Montage Workshop
Open Innovative Resources for Filmmaking Education and Training.
We are professional film editors and also part of academia of Montage departments across central Europe.
Our teaching approach of editing requires open source footage with various qualities and multiple possibilities of interpretation in order to illustrate the wide range of montage.
The provided material that abides with certain guidelines is a suitable tool for learning script editing, construction of the motivation of characters and their psychology, while creating a specific cinematic world with its own logic and rules. It also examines the sensitivity of the viewers perception, by creating a subtext and supporting the author’s message.
With financing from the EU grant Erasmus+ Strategic Partnerships we were given a chance to create that material. By focusing on various problems of montage like the establishment of Time, Space, Point of View, and how the visual style influences the message.
This activity is a continuation of our decade-long annual meetings, in the form of a week-long montage workshops where we exchange the know-how with the students who are given script-editing tasks and presented with various case studies.
